- Physicians — maximum of 1.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™
- Nurses — 1.0 Contact Hours
All other health care professionals completing this course will be issued a statement of participation.
This activity is designed to meet the educational needs of primary care clinicians, registered nurses, and advanced practice registered nurses who care for patients from rural and underserved areas.
The demand for dermatologic care is high throughout the United States, but less than 10% of dermatologists practice in rural areas. This uneven distribution may cause many patients to postpone care, leading to treatment delays and disease progression. Fortunately, teledermatology can help improve access to care for vulnerable patient populations. In this activity, expert faculty will discuss available teledermatology platforms and programs, how to implement teledermatology into clinical practice, and the benefits and barriers to implementation. Cases and conditions suitable for teledermatology will also be reviewed.
This enduring activity is a recorded session from the 2nd Annual Rural Health Clinical Congress that took place on November 21, 2020.
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:
- Evaluate teledermatology platforms and programs available to rural and underserved communities
- Discuss the benefits and barriers to implementing teledermatology into clinical practice
- Implement teledermatology into clinical practice
- Determine cases and conditions suitable for teledermatology
