This activity is designed to meet the educational needs of neurologists, advanced practice neurology clinicians, neurology nurses, pharmacists, and other members of the health care professional team involved in the care of patients with multiple sclerosis.
With more than a dozen disease-modifying therapies (DMTs) now available for multiple sclerosis (MS), treatment selection has become more complex. Clinicians need to know how and when to switch DMTs and ways to optimize outcomes in different situations, including pregnancy and breastfeeding. In this activity, expert faculty will discuss the latest options and best practices in DMT selection and how shared decision-making can be used to help patients meet their treatment goals. Management strategies and DMT considerations for pre-conception, pregnancy, and breastfeeding will also be explored. Two comic-style case scenarios and video commentary from 2 patients with MS will be presented to illustrate challenges encountered in clinical practice.
Upon completion of this activity, participants will be better able to:
- Evaluate the key considerations related to DMT selection
- Employ optimal strategies for patient communication when starting or switching a DMT
- Apply strategies for optimal selection and use of DMTs before, during, and after pregnancy
- Define the elements of an effective shared decision-making process in DMT selection

There are no fees for participating in and receiving credit for this activity. During the period October 16, 2020 through October 16, 2021, participants must 1) read the learning objectives and faculty disclosures, 2) study the educational activity, 3) complete the posttest by recording the best answer to each question, and 4) complete the evaluation form. Passing grade is 70% and you are limited to 3 attempts.
A statement of credit will be issued only upon receipt of a completed activity evaluation form and a completed posttest.
