Estimated Time to Complete Activity: 60 minutes
This activity has been designed to address the educational needs of medical oncologists. It may also be of benefit to surgical oncologists, pathologists, dermatologists, oncology nurse practitioners (NPs), oncology PAs, oncology pharmacists, and other healthcare providers interested in the management of melanoma.
Statement of Need
During the past 5 years, the treatment landscape for patients with metastatic melanoma has undergone a paradigm shift, and the rapid pace of development can be challenging for oncology clinicians to stay abreast of. Many oncology clinicians lack knowledge about selecting appropriate patients for targeted therapy, incorporating the NCCN Guidelines for melanoma into clinical practice, optimal combination therapy and sequencing, and identifying and managing potential adverse events associated with targeted therapies and immunotherapies. This educational activity will provide a case-based, expert-led review of evidence-based treatment and management of metastatic melanoma.
Upon proper completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:
- Identify patients with metastatic melanoma who may benefit from targeted therapy.
- Select treatment combinations and sequences for patients with metastatic melanoma based on the best available clinical evidence.
- Outline strategies to identify and appropriately manage adverse events associated with targeted therapies and immunotherapies in patients with metastatic melanoma.
- Physicians — Enduring activity; maximum of 1.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™
All other healthcare professionals completing this course will be issued a statement of participation.
